Introduction
Web Golok (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a website-creation business and online academy based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect through this website, why we collect it, how we keep it safe, and the rights you have over it under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act).
By using this website, creating an account, or making a purchase, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
What Data We Collect and Why
We collect only the data we need to run our courses, services, and webinars. This includes:
- Identity and contact details: your name, email address, and phone/WhatsApp number — used to create your account, deliver your purchases, and communicate with you.
- Billing details: the information you enter at checkout — used to process your payment and issue order confirmations.
- Account and login data: used to secure your account and let you sign in.
- Course progress: which lessons you have started and completed — used to run your course dashboard and, where relevant, apply our refund policy.
- Appointment bookings: the date and time you choose for a consultation — used to schedule and confirm your booking.
- Messages: anything you send us through contact or enquiry forms — used to respond to you.
We do not collect data we do not need, and we do not sell your personal data to anyone.
OTP Login via Email and WhatsApp
We use one-time passwords (OTPs) sent to your email or WhatsApp number to verify your identity when you create an account or sign in. Your email address and phone number are used for this purpose as a normal part of providing your account. OTP messages are transactional — they are not marketing messages.
How We Use Email and WhatsApp
We send you messages by email or WhatsApp for:
- Account and login OTPs;
- Order and booking confirmations;
- Course notifications related to courses you have purchased;
- Updates, offers, and newsletters — only if you have consented to receive them. You can withdraw this consent at any time by writing to us, and we will stop such messages.
Cookies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in and remember your preferences. If we use any analytics, that data is looked at only in aggregate to improve the website and is not used to identify you personally. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; some site features (such as staying logged in) may not work without them.
How Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by our web hosting provider. Access to personal data is limited to what is needed to operate the website and serve you. We use reasonable security safeguards — such as encrypted connections and access controls — to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse, as required by the DPDP Act.
Who We Share Data With
We share personal data only with service providers who help us run this website, and only to the extent needed:
- Razorpay (payment processing): when you pay by UPI, card, or netbanking, your payment is processed by Razorpay. Your card and banking details are entered on and handled by Razorpay’s secure systems — we do not store your full card or banking credentials.
- Email and WhatsApp delivery providers: to send OTPs, confirmations, and notifications.
- Web hosting provider: to store and serve the website and your account data.
These providers process your data on our behalf and under their own security obligations. We may also disclose data where required by law or a lawful order of a government authority or court.
Your Rights Under the DPDP Act
As a Data Principal under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access: ask us for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is used;
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data;
- Erasure: ask us to delete your personal data when it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected, subject to any legal record-keeping requirements;
- Withdraw consent: withdraw any consent you have given (for example, to marketing updates) at any time;
- Grievance redressal: raise a complaint with us about how your data is handled, and, if unresolved, approach the Data Protection Board of India.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at ask@askarindam.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with the DPDP Act.
Data Retention
We keep your personal data only as long as it is needed for the purposes described above:
- Account data and course progress are kept while your account remains active;
- Order, payment, and invoice records are kept as long as required by Indian tax and accounting laws;
- Form messages and enquiries are kept only as long as needed to deal with them.
When data is no longer needed and no law requires us to keep it, we delete it.

Payments & payment data
Payments on this website are processed by RBI-authorised payment gateways. We currently use Razorpay (UPI, cards, netbanking, wallets); additional gateways — for example PayU — may be added in future, and this section applies equally to them.
When you pay, you interact directly with the gateway’s secure systems. We never receive or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN or netbanking credentials. The gateway shares with us only the payment status, a transaction/payment ID and the billing details you entered (name, email, phone, PIN code) so that we can deliver your purchase, process refunds and meet tax and accounting obligations.
Payment data handled by Razorpay is governed by Razorpay’s own privacy policy at razorpay.com/privacy. We retain order and transaction records for as long as Indian accounting and tax law requires.
